British women’s fight to end taxation of period products exposes capitalist side-effect. Companies didn’t bother to reduce the price of products, they just pocketed the tax equivalent themselves. This works in the reverse as well and is why taxation on products does not always lead to an increase in price. If people refuse to pay the increase, companies have to reduce the price.
